HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BUILD MUSCLE

A guy working out regularly for about 5 months now 6 times a week said that he lost 70 pounds. What he did was cardio and some weight training. While he was happy with the weight loss , he still wanted to build muscles. He ate around 1900 calories daily. He was 16 at that time and about 84 kg or 185 lbs.

What came into mind in an instant was the amount of calories he has been taking in. That amount was right if he did not want to gain muscle and lose weight. The truth is he has to eat more because of that 6 day a week regimen. His body was breaking, in fact, down his muscle to sustain his regular work out. And despite popular belief eating the right kind of foods about 3 or more thousand calories , he won’t get fat. As a matter of fact, grass fed meats, dairy , fruits, veggies and all sort of tree nuts can not only make him leaner and feel better but also not risking him from cancer and heart problems which most of the store bought can cause. It is also okay to take lean meats including the red ones.

In brief, getting in shape and building muscles requires eating more calories in the diet while working out 3 or 4 days a week intensely. Six days a week workouts are not necessary. In fact, doing it 3 or 4 times weekly with multiple joint exercise can do more good to him. So following a proper exercise and eating the right kind of foods can give him that desired muscle. But how long does it take to build muscle? It all depends on the individual. Anyway it’s his body.
